When I went to public school I didn’t know very many Christian people. Especially not Christian girls who are/were my age. I had the people I went to church with but other than that I didn’t know very many (I did know a few that I went to camp with but they lived pretty far away). At my church there is Missy (she is like my sister, I’ve known her since I was three), Avery and Rachel (I don’t remember how we met), and the twins- Jess and Marielle (they are a year older than the rest of us and their mom is the family pastor at our church I think.. I just know she leads the kids choirs and stuff) à and that’s our “main group”. One year our B.U.G.s youth group (B.U.G.s = beautiful unique girls) went to a girls conference called illuminate. Illuminate had just become a thing the year before.. So we were there the second year and it was really fun.. Wait I forgot to mention something… the first year we went to illuminate (we have now gone multiple years) the twins didn’t come with us, and everyone else in our “main group” besides me all went to the same school. The same school I now go to. So while we were there we met up with a lot of their friends from school, and soon I became good friends with them as well.
So I started seeing them once a year at illuminate, and once and a while at birthday parties.
Then I saw some at a different camp (not the one I usually go to)
Oh side note, but male instructors at an all-girls camp… who thought of that!?
Abby was sort of the main one that I would hang out with when in that group but then, recently, abby left to go do some missions work so we had a surprise going away party.
So that’s how it was like in the past. I’d see most of them only once or twice a year and it would be a blast.
Then this year I switched to their school and I am still very good friends with them but I don’t hang out with them as my main group of friends at school, so I wasn’t sure how things would work out and if our friendship would stay as strong. But it has and I am very glad for that.
This semester I have art with Avery and Leah. One day in art, about two and a half weeks ago, Leah turns to Avery and I and asks us to help her plan a surprise party for Hannah’s sweet 16. We said yes of course even though Leah planned 99.9% of it. Our plan was to meet at Jamesa’s house and surprise Hannah. Hannah’s face when she saw us was priceless, I wish I had got a pic, she honestly looked so confused and stunned. Then walk down to Med Grill and eat dinner there , which was really cute because all of us girls were dressed up and it was raining so we were walking in pairs sharing umbrellas and it was like a movie moment ( I also, unfortunately, do not have a picture of that either). Then we went to Leah’s house and had cake, a photo booth, and watched Netflix and catching fire.
Just a tip to girls out there: it is great to be friends with everyone, but make sure you have a good strong groups of “Sistaahh Friendz” (sister friends. it’s a reference from illuminate sorry) because honestly there is almost nothing better than a friendship like this.
(sorry for the messy/random writing, I just wanted to share that quickly)
p.s. I spent a lot of time putting pictures of all of us, the group, the activities we did, and so on but it wouldn’t let me post the writing with the pictures so i will need to figure that out… but i might be posting the pictures seperately a little later
